Athletic Training & Sports Performance

and why they go Hand in Hand

_DSC6313-3.jpg

Why wouldn't your training be
sport specific?

Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

Sports Performance Training is an approach to training that helps athletes achieve their desired performance goals in their specific sport. Utilizing integrated movement that focuses on functional strength and neuromuscular efficiency forces the athlete to work in all three planes of motion versus just one plane, which is commonly seen in traditional strength and conditioning programs.

Our Sports Performance Program consists of flexibility, cardiorespiratory, core, balance, plyometric, speed, agility, and quickness training.

Every Athletes Story is Different

This is why we believe in the power of relationship. We don't want to shuffle you in and out of our clinic, checking boxes along the way. We want to walk along side you and help you develop your own sport specific training regimen. Regardless of what you're looking for, this is very individualized and specific to you.

At the end of the day, we're here to help you get better in your sport by

training with passion, recovering with intention, and moving with purpose.

Athletic Training

Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

Athletic trainers improve functional outcomes and specialize in patient education to prevent injury and re-injury. Preventative care provided by an athletic trainer has a positive return on investment any operation. ATs are able to reduce injury and shorten rehabilitation time for their patients, which translates to lower absenteeism from work, school or sports.

Periodization

Periodization training is the deliberate manipulation of training variables to optimize performance for competition, prevent overtraining, and progress performance. Variable adjustments in duration, load, or volume are planned out over a specific period of time to achieve these objectives.

For athletes, the goal is to mix up load variables at different times of the year to allow the athlete to peak at certain times. Generally you want the peak times to be during competitions.

Strength & Conditioning

Strength and Conditioning is the selection and development of dynamic /static exercises used to improve physical performance. Strength and conditioning is used to develop every area of the body and improve the way a person moves, with the intention of enhancing sporting or physical performance.

Proper strength and conditioning allows an athlete to strengthen supporting muscles, even out muscle imbalances, increase mobility, correct posture, stabilize joints, learn new movement patterns and enhance coordination and peripheral skills.

TPI GOLF

TRM is the only facility in the state that offers TPI and K-Vest.

We place individuals through a complete array of tests usually reserved for the top, most elite golfers in the world.  By assessing a "total picture" of your body, swing, and equipment, our team will recommend a program that will seamlessly integrate into your existing PGA or LPGA professional's instruction to help you optimize your performance.

Mobility

Mobility therapy is a type of physical therapy that aims to restore a patient’s mobility after injury or illness. Restoring mobility not only restores the function of the patient’s joints or limbs, but also improves the general quality of life. Like in other types of physical therapy, mobility therapy involves the use of mechanical force and movements to rehabilitate the affected body part to regain its strength.

Movement Screening

Movement screening is the process of analyzing movement for the purpose of understanding how an individual uses their body. The movement strategies they adopt will contribute to their physical performance. Your body was designed to move a certain way based on how your bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles are arranged. How you move this complex system can be influenced by a lot of things.. age, activity level, type of activity, sustained postures, limb length, prior injury, weight, etc.

When someone is interested in training, increasing training, or loading movement, it is important for us to try to understand how your body may handle being under load.

Pool Therapy

Pool workouts for athletes allow for training in a high-resistance, low impact environment which allow for greater training without the risk of injury.  The Hydroworx pool offers a built in treadmill with large resistance jets that can be adjusted to various speeds and resistance as well as an adjustable water depth allowing for more or less buoyancy and weight bearing.  The research is very compelling in regards to the benefit and utilization of an aquatic fitness program.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping is supposed to draw fluid into the area; the discoloration is due to broken blood vessels just beneath the skin, much like a bruise. Cupping has been popular in Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures going back thousands of years. It has many benefits of relieving neck and back pain, lowering cholesterol, migraines, knee arthritis and improving immune function.
